Thought this would be fun for everyone.

post your top 5 fav guitarist. the ones you can listen to all day. the ones you wish you could play like or compose like.

I think this changes a lot but here is my current top 5

1: Jason Becker
2: Eric Johnson
3: Satriani
4: Malmsteen
5: SRV

Billy Corgan
Jimi Hendrix
Zakk Wylde
James Taylor
Steve Vai          no particular order :)

This is an interesting twist...not who's best, but who're our favorite. Nice to be able to avoid the obvious choices.

Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead)
Matt Bellamy (Muse)
Paul Simon
Nick Drake
Adam Jones (Tool)

Jimi Hendrix
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Rory Gallagher
Jimmy Page
Alex Lifeson
David Gilmour

Couldn't do only 5 and not necessarily in this order... :headbang:

amended:  One of my odd personal favorites would be Buckethead.

In no particular order -
Robert Fripp
Adrian Belew
Neil Young
Nick Drake

- with honourable mentions for David Gilmour, Nels Cline and The Edge.

Page is cool.  It was actually a stab at Satch (can't take anything from him - just not for me).  The Edge and Smith are actually what makes your list attractive.  They do very melodic tasteful stuff, stuff that moves people and invokes an emotion, and  they don't do it on a virtuoso level compared to some of the others on the list.

Ok - I could only guess. Thought it was Smith that was 'stabbed'. So I just pointed out that Page is not on there for the "usual" reasons. But we can only agree on both Edge and Smith.  :icon_thumright:

Devin Townsend
David Gilmour
Dave Mustaine
James Hetfield
Adam Jones
Kirk Weindstein (Crowbar)
Buzz Osbourne
Buck Dharma

Crap...  forgot to define "listlength"

1, Myself - for obvious reasons
2. Phil Keaggy - for his far reaching and ever changing style despite his handicap
3. BB King - for being the warmest and most personable performer I've ever had the pleasure to see
4. Chuck Berry - for being the father of rock and roll
5. Robbie Kreiger - for gettin' me thru high school

Richie Sambora
Edge
SRV
almost tempted to go with John Mayer for acoustic stuff only...
Jimmy Page, more for being himself than for liking to listen to him
