Tiger Woods confesses

I'll give it to the real "football" or "futbol," because I'm hardly athletic anymore.  It would not be a stretch for me to play (American) Football, but I'm in no shape to play soccer.

It's because our version doesn't involve faking injury as a key winning strategy, nor are 0-0 ties considered satisfying entertainment in the US. "Soccer" is actually a slang word for "boring thing" in American English.

American Football never takes advantage of an "injury timeout."  How many games end with taking a knee?  I know there's the whole play clock thing and protecting the lead, but I hate it when games end like that even when my team wins.

I think it's funny to listen to the sports announcers, trying to pretend that teams play hard the whole game and don't dog it in the middle, when they're trying to appear inept so as to trick the other team into slowing down. It's more pronounced in professional basketball, but it happens in the NFL too, especially since they went to a 16-game season. Here's a question - since every team has a "two-minute drill" where they play really hard and score fast, why don't they play that hard the whole game?  :icon_scratch:

I saw a good entertaiment yesterday at Monday Night Football :laughing7:
And you have no moral to say something is boring comparing with American Football, stoping the game 2 min to change the team and play 20 seconds is really boring... not only to Brazilians :laughing7: Beside it, I kind like American Football, I'm always amazed of the precision of passing of Quarterbacks... Not counting that it's a very strategic game... (well, add too that the games ends here like 3AM, but it's because you make a 1hour game last 3h30  :laughing11:)

And about the fake injury, well that's why I play rugby and we don't use no stinking helmet and armor...
And the time off for injury, in deed the time the game is stopped for substituing players, injury, ball out is added at the end of game... (not sure of what "taking a knee" means)

Taking a knee ( by the quarterback) satisfies that the play has been completed, but the game clock keeps going.  It's usually done by the team with the lead to end the game.  It's also done by teams that are losing really bad by submissively ending the game.  It has an etiquette about it too by being sportmanslike and not running up the score.  But it's a little wussy-like to me IMO.  Often times, it's done by the team with less than a one score lead trying to protect it.  There's penalties for delay of game and intentional grounding.  Taking a knee should be like that, IMO, because it's not playing.  If teams were forced to run or throw a play and that had a close lead, there's always the possibility of another score or turnover, which would make close games more exciting til the very end.  Now, if the team with the lead gets the ball back with a minute left, you know the game is over.  It's playing "lawyer ball."

What this has to do with Tiger Woods, I don't know.

I saw it once or twice, but I understanded that it was like after a chat of the 2 teams... If I decide to end the games, taking the chance of the other team wins, is pure weirdness

Anytime the ball is carried, thrown, or snapped, the possibility of a turnover and resulting lead change in close games is possible.  IMO, you play til the end.  Taking a knee isn't playing.

Ronaldo may be one of the biggest faces for NIKE in his part of the world but outside of that, not really. Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods get the top spot at the moment.

Michael Jordan?  Still?  His Air Jordans may or may not be made by Nike anymore.  Kind of like Fender making the latest EVH.  Regardless of who makes it, it's almost it's own brand.
