I’m eyeing the Lollar El Rayos now. Black chrome covers, single coil esque sounds (Yngwie style), and keeps most of the important bits of the guitar sourced from the PNW

One thing I need to figure out - I have a cosmo black neck plate and matching screws coming in, but this is both contoured heel AND scallop which means I’ll definitely end up through the fretboard without an alternate plan. I’d like to keep the screws matching, was thinking about just taking a cutoff wheel to em.

Just wear a face shield ! I was nearly killed by an exploding cut off wheel and now I’m a’scared of em……

But yes, I do that to screws all the time.

Love cosmo black hardware, it goes so well with almost everything. Can't go wrong with it.

Well, I hope I gave Lollar a chuckle. I asked them to suggest a humbucker sized pickup that would get me in the ballpark of the YJM Fury pickups, and to their credit they actually answered thoughtfully.

They suggested that their “The Bird” pickups, which are HB sized Firebird pickups, would be the closest thing, and that the El Rayos would lack the pick attack despite being designed to be more single coil in character.

That’s the last piece of the puzzle, and I think the no-hole black chrome covers will look awesome on this minimalist Viking themed thing. Besides, BIRD? MeadowHAWK?

(I know a Meadowhawk is a dragonfly, just go with it)
