Wow that pink is bright!! Even so I like it. Is that what you were expecting to get? Perfect color for an 8 string. Ha That red looks tame in comparison.  Some fine basses.

Thanks Fellas , I wasn't really sure what I was going to get I knew the colors would warm up a little with the Minwax stuff as that has a slight Amber color to it but at first shocking is what I was starring at  :icon_biggrin: The pink was so bright at first it was dayglo .I dig it though I wanted something a little different for these . :glasses9:

Is this easy to do?

very easy , maybe the easiest of all , it simply dye to wood then Minwax wipe on poly then waxed . Cheap too . You need one of those dyes , denatured alcohol or Everclear  :icon_jokercolor: I wouldn't drink either one  though . and Minwax poly

That is everything I used on those . Also it dries very fast so these 2 bodies were done in 2 days . I did about 4 or 5 coats of the wipe on and only buffed the final coat with 0000 steel wool , lightly after drying over night . Then the wax and final wiping down . I did 2 or 3 coats of dye , I never measured it I just put a spoon full in a mason jar of alcohol and let that sit over night and ran it through a paint strainer into another jar . Sometimes it doesn't dissolve all the way . Easy peasy .

OK. I'm in the UK so Wudtone would also be a possible option.

I'm still considering a project so haven't decided what to do yet

just got the 8 banger strung and somewhat tuned and here we go

Out of curiosity do you play an 8 string bass with a pick or with your fingers?  Same question applies to the rarer 12 string bass.

whatever works I guess . This was the very first 8 string bass I ever played , recorded and finger styled  :headbang:

I used again yesterday on a new P body ..this time it was the orange mixed with lemon yellow . This is the first time I used Minwax wipeon Gloss . I usually use the satin but wow this is excellent and after 6 coats in a day I think it turned out great . What do you think ?

the minwax darkened it up and gave it some amber glow which helped the lighter yellow . Not sure what color to call it though .
