TELE OWNERS UNITE!

Am I the only one who sees this thread title and thinks of the Far Side? I mean given the Tele's perception by so many as the 'Forest Gump' cousin of the Strat, its even funnier. Not that its deserved or real, of course, just saying I find it amusing.

Interesting enough, if you surveyed wiser, more experienced musicians, they could tell you that the Strat is actually seen as, at best, "the Fonzie" of the Fender family.... it's sort of hard to discount what people like Ted Greene, Scotty Anderson and Danny Gatton achieved musically on the Telecaster while the strat kids were still fixated on the wank bar.

It was inspired by the lack luster response Max got for having the guitar of the year..  :laughing7:

I don't think of The Far Side, but I do think of a bumper sticker I saw years ago that said "Dyslexics... Untie!"

I would definitely do a Mary Kaye White but as transparent as possible so you still get the beautiful grain of the wood.  The edge would be more opaque to bury the end grain and  it would have a slight white burst on the edge. Oh it would be a thing of beauty.  In fact why don't you sell me that body and I'll show you what I have in mind.  :laughing7:

I had thought the same thing.  :laughing7:

My Tele.

Rhetorical question:

What makes a Tele a Tele and a Strat a Strat?  Body or Electronics?

Hey - how do you like that MIDI controller?

Hey Mayfly by VOX,

I have teh Roland GR-55.  I really like it.  I've just started playing with it and jsut scrathed the surface of what it can do.  I doubt I'll ever learn the half of it.  I'm just a closet player that likes gadgets.  I only play for myself when no one is around.  Unfortunatley, that hasn't been to often as of late.

I've been contemplating another build with a Ghost System but that adds a lot of cash to the equation..

To me a tele needs to have the body, bridge, bridge single and dorky headstock to be a tele. Anything less is a just a single cutaway with a dorky headstock.

I just bought my Yamaha G-50.  I'm planning at some point to replace my M-Audio 2496 with a 1010LT so I can at least record and do offline hex processing.

Very cool. The reason why I ask is that I'm running a godin guitar with 10 pin synth connector into a second hand Roland GI-20 into my mac.  This system has tracking issues and it's tough to get it dialed.  Was wondering if your system worked fairly well for chords and single notes.

Hey, again, just beginning and this is my first although expensive ($700USD) into the realm of Synths so take it for what is worth.

Trackings seems to be spot on.  When I first installed the removal pickup (real temp mounting just to make sure it worked), I had a few mistry sounds and tracking isseus.  However, once I mounted it and went through the set-up screens to dial it in on the GK, it cleaned them all up.

A side not.  There is a forum page by Rolnad that I was directed to by another user on this forum.  It was pretty helpful.  If you want it I can post it.

A little late to the party, but here is mine...

What fun.  It reminds me I want more Teles.

Patrick, when that's the guitar you bring, you're never late to the party.  The party is when you arrive, that's all.

To me a "real Tele" has some variant of a traditional Tele bridge PU. Otherwise it's more of a "Tele shaped guitar". But it's all just semantics.

What part of "rhetorical question" is confusing?

It's not confusing to me at all:

If a rhetorical question is asked that isn't meant to be rhetorical, is is still rhetorical?  :icon_jokercolor:
