"Surfing" with my first Warmoth

Damn. It almost hurts just to watch.

Now we're coming up on the fun part.

Indeed.  :toothy12:

Also, found that last part almost impossible to play without using economy picking, so, that was my next personal lesson.  :laughing7:

32nd notes are tough.

But hey, it could be worse:

The whole outro is the "fun part."  :icon_jokercolor:

I'm moving on to something easier, "Summer Song."  :laughing7:

This thread needs the outro, we're all looking forward to it.

Go for it  :hello2:

Thanks for all of your help and support, John.  I'm honestly just burned-out on the song.  I'll come back to it at some point.

"Summer Song" looks to be a challenge, but not AS challenging as the outro of "Surfing."  Perhaps after I learn that one, then the outro will be easier.

I'm not even up to the part Cagey is talking about.  I've played with the trem bar over the hammer/pull lick.  It's just synchronization.  For now, it is the six seconds before that part starts that is holding me up.  :icon_thumright:  I need to develop a bit more left hand strength for that 6th fret G string double bend at that speed.

The last post I will make regarding "Summer Song," until it is done.

To be honest we are just gunning for ya, if that's the correct expression for getting behind and supporting.

And yes if you start getting burnt out on something, you can always come back to it. Summer Song is sounding pretty good, and your playing is certainly benefitting from this don't you think ?

And thank you, for that.  :icon_thumright:  It indeed has helped.

Sorry, any better?

Nice  :icon_thumright:

Thank you, sir.  Working on the part that follows, with the open G-string pedal tone.  Tonally, it makes sense.  Rhythmically, is where he throws me.  I've got it at 40%, slowly increasing speed.

Thank you for all of your kind words.

Decided to give that one a break, and come back to it.  Moving on the "The Forgotten, Part II."

Hardest part of the song, at 90%.  #thoseslidesaretough    :laughing7:

I used to do that tune. You're working on the hardest part. Seems to me I used to tap that one high note. Wasn't time to do it another way.

Thanks for the feedback, Kevin.

The tab shows a slide from 15th fret to the 20th, then a pull off from there back to the 15th fret, again.  Listening to the slowed down studio recording, it sounds like that is what he is doing.  I'm at 90% now doing that, so I'll just keep going along.  If I get stuck between 90 and 100% speed, I'll do that tap as a short-cut!  Thanks!

Dig the new forum appearance!

Finally, that 12 seconds is at 100%.  Now to move on to the rest of the song (The Forgotten, Part II).

Excellent! Now if Joe ever needs a stand-in, he's got one. (You'll have to shave your head, though, or people will know it's not him.)
