stripping how to?

hey i was wondering how to tell what kind of finsh is on a gutiar I have a warlock body want to redo but it has been customized once before. I am not sure what i want to do with it yet as I do not know what type of wood it is made out of. any suggestions would be greatly apperiated. Thanks

Go to an area of the guitar that is normally covered like under a pickguard or in a pickup cavity.  Take a Q-Tip and put a drip of paint stripper on the finish.  If it is poly the stripper will not even touch it, chances are it won’t even dull it.  Most other finishes will start to lift real fast.
