Strat builds are started

I checked the neck fit and it won't fit in the pocket.

Just remember they are supposed to be tight, they are also designed to slide in from them top, not push in from the back. The neck pocket is tapered.

Thats what SHE said...

The second body is here, but...

Warmoth cut it for a tremolo and not hardtail like I ordered.  I confirmed with my original order email, it was supposed to be hardtail.  Sure is pretty though.  That black pickguard is loaded with the DiMarzio Corgan pickups and is going on the brown guitar, but this one is getting a an all black setup as well, so I put it on to show the look.

What do you guys think, should I ask  Warmoth to make another one and wait another 8-ish weeks and get a different top, or live with the tremolo?

Well, there's a discussion on trems right now, and it seems like a lot of people leave them alone, or tighten them down. How much do you like the top? If it's not exactly what you want, no reason to keep this body.

That thing is gorgeous. If it were me, I'd keep it. You can always block or otherwise set up the vibrato so it's a non-issue. In the grand scheme of things, there's not enough difference in cost between the two bridge styles to write home about. I don't know about you, but in 8 weeks I could go insane waiting on another body. Besides, a Strat without a wang bar is like cake without icing. It just ain't right <grin>

i'd keep it. just dont put the arm on and tighten the screws down as tight as they go. (thats what i did on my garagesale-o-caster)

Ok, everyone seems to say "keep it".  Are you guys saying this because:

A. You like the look of this one?
B. You like tremolos?
C. You have so little patience that even the thought of me having to wait 8 weeks kills you.  :)

FWIW, I'm leaning towards getting a new one made.

They are leaning that way for reasons A and C, and because having a trem and not using it gives the option still. If you don't want the trem, sure, send it back.

D. All of the above.

But, I don't blame you for wanting what you want. I've been waiting about 100 years for the neck for my latest build to arrive, and had to pay over $200 more than I would have simply because I couldn't accept a Showcase neck that was perfect except for the frets. But, it was pointed out to me that it's gonna be my baby, so why would I compromise? There's a lotta money tied up in the thing; a couple bucks here and there to ensure happiness isn't worth talking about. I'm going to live with the guitar a long time. The money? Not so much. I'd have bought beer with it. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

So I'm looking at different zebrawood tops for the replacement.  The one on this body is:

I like it, but I'd like finer grain and less yellow, so I'm thinking of this one:

What do you guys think?

Cagey, spending extra money on beer?  Not only is there nothing wrong with that, there's quite a bit right with it.  :)

Live with it, that's a sweet guitar, they both are.... :icon_thumright:

I do think they could have gone a little more transparent on the zebrawood.... :dontknow:

Well, if you wish you had a different top, go for it!
Wait, aren't unique choice non-refundable?

I think so, but I'm not asking for a refund, just the product I ordered.

Get a new one. They messed up, they should fix it.

Problem is, if it was a unique choice, there's no longer any way to get what you ordered. By definition, it's one-of-a-kind. But, I'd bet dollars to donuts that thing would sell on the showcase if they took it back. That's a nice piece.

I agree and I suspect we'll see soon as I doubt they'll let me keep it.
