So I guess I'll move my thread over this way for progress on the neck/body.
The body is mahogany, I got it off ebay two years ago other than sanding the oil finish off of it, but I'll get pics of that this weekend.
The real treat here is this neck! I've been working on putting layers of tru-oil on the neck, currently I'm on my fourth coat (which you're about to see pics of)

These are the pics right out of the box,

And here we are four coats of tru-oil later.

Edit: More details on the build,

Neck:
Mahogany/Rosewood fretboard
22 fret
Standard thin, 1-11/16
16" radius
SS6100 frets
Planet waves tuners

Body:
Like I said, it's an ebay find....
Mahogany
HxH
Floyd-ed (recessed)

I've already taken the original oil finish off and I plan on painting it solid white including the pegface on the neck.

And I just put a 5th coat of tru-oil on the neck! I'll be using the scotch brite on in the morning.

James, Great job on your neck! I'm looking forward to seeing the completed guitar
Keep up the pics.
Please

Thanks guys! I just put the fifth coat on this morning/2:00 PM (that's MY morning)  :laughing7: I was going to start the scotch brite but I felt the finish wasn't.... uniform, enough?  :icon_scratch:
But I think after the fifth coat it's gonna be nice and even so I'll start the sanding tonight after work. Then I'm gonna be going to my workspace this weekend to start painting the body/pegface. I was able to find a jackson decal as well, so I'm pretty excited about that.

Man how I love cleared mahogany.  :icon_thumright:

My carvin V220 has a satin clear on the mahogany neck, I have been in love with clear mahogany necks ever since I got it.

As a matter of fact I think I just have an obsession with mahogany necks in general, which leads me to believe I'd love an all rosewood neck, but I'm trying to avoid starting another build.  :toothy12:

I'm pretty sure that the contoured heel on this body isn't from Warmoth. I'll get some pics of that later...  :rock-on:

In my opinion James, you'd be crazy to cover this beautiful piece of mahogany with white. I'd say just tru-oil the body as well. that thing would be off the hook.... :headbang1:

Does anyone know if the explorer pickguard will fit on the star shape?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.  You can't cover that beautiful piece of wood.

I guess I forgot tht I uploaded it. haha I guess I'll save you all the nightmare and not put up these pics of this sanded/wood/grain filled body.  :laughing7:

What else is new? I do that for recreational purposes...  :confused4:
