oh and btw, im not relating new-gear smell to new-CAR smell. i work as a car-importer, and extensive studies have shown that the "new car smell" that everybody loves is actually toxic fumes given off by the glue under the upholstery.

You are partly correct, it is toxic fumes. But it's from fumes from the type of plastic used from the interior parts, and the carpet... :icon_biggrin:

You know what smells gross?  A new hard case.  I don't know why, but they always smell like chemicals and playdough.  It's probably all they glue they use to put the fuzzy liner in.

My friend has a hard case that smells like pot.  :tard:

You know, the one thing I miss about the Gibson Firebird that I bought new and had to sell, is the smell of the lining of that plush hard case.

Better than the smell of vomit.  :sad: I had one case that smelt a fair bit like that, took several lashings of the old Brut 33 au de cologne (and boy did that stuff stink!) to rid the case of the smell. That was my Ricky 1997 that I sold in the 80s....

Not too many things smell better than a new guitar in a case. Probably those toxic glue fumes again, but what the hell, it's worth it.

Muyfue - sorry buddy i traded it for a Ht-5 combo around 12 months ago. it was nice tho. it was actually LTD, but played and sounded nice. just a bit too "metal" for my rock band.

I love the smell of the sorta-older Gibson cases.
