I love the sleek lines of those drop tops, but man they give me the impression that they're fragile.  The tops seem so thin.  Don't get me wrong, as soon as I saw a drop top I wanted one.  It's friggin nice.  Does it sound hollow when you tap on the top of the body or does it seem pretty solid?

i think the toxic wood was bocote....i'm not sure but now i'm curious so i'll look it up in the woods section to be sure.....

but with the tapping thing my guess is that it would depend on the body build.  if it's semi-hollow like a thinline with the big chambers i'm pretty sure you'd be able to tell by knockin on it, but it seems like that other multi-chamber hollowing option would be pretty solid especially since they still use the 1/8" lam tops on it instead of the 1/4" thinline tops....

Just a geeky technical note here... if you want to post pictures from the Warmoth showcase or gallery, just click the "Share This Picture" link and copy and paste the BBC forum code provided, like so:

And I think it was Ken's (late) father who was allergic to Cocobolo.  A fairly large percentage of the population is sensitive to it, but as long as the body sanders aren't, Warmoth does use it from time to time.

Perhaps many of you don't know, but Ken's father, who has now passed, built many of the one-of-a-kind machines around the factory; many of them superior in design to the ones used by corporate giants.

Funny you guys say that; I feel like it'd be a shame to do the bridge pup vol pot only setup. I just seriously dislike that look.

I think a really nice standard rear route strat would be perfect here. Gold hardware.. or maybe black?

I'm a little curious.. Does Chocoblo dust smell like chocolate when you sand them? I worked with this 1/8 inch thick wood before (was making pistol grip panels for a 1911) and it really fits the description for Chocoblo, and the dust smells like chocolate when I sanded it. I didn't get any adverse reaction from sanding it...

You'll want to use a dust mask otherwise you'll gain 10 pounds. I recommend snorting some of the dust with a nice Port.
