Short Scale bass build...need pickup advice

The point of a battery box is making changes quick and easy with no tools.  But yes, you're right.  With enough planning and changing them before you need to, it isn't necessary.  However, a pickguarded controls model or top routed J or Tele doesn't leave much room or make any easier, plus I would make the argument for threaded inserts.

I wish my axe had a battery box.  It wasn't overly convenient finding a location for it within the cavity. (harder to put a screw in the battery holder, really)

There is not enough room on most top routed basses for preamps, unless you're doing an Audere or East Retro drop-in.

I am doing a rear route single cut g4.  Think there will be room for a battery, 4 knobs, a three way switch and a circuit board?  I am going with the Duncan set up.

Series/single coil/parallel switching requires a DPDT On/On/On switch, also known as a SP3T.

This can easily be done with a mini toggle, however, if you want to use a Gibson style toggle, it's a specialized switch.

thanks line6.

not sold on a Gibson style.  Just any good DPDT switch.

something like this

I will get one and post schematic.  I may need some help on where to put the cap.
