not sure if it is just the way it shows on the pic, but it looks a bit bronze-ish, rather than black.. really like it.
 
That's the way it is.. I was trying to achieve a "white" color in the grains similar to the way it is in this video after he sands back the black.

It's not that I DON'T like the way it is. It's just different than what I wanted/envisioned, but sometimes shit happens and your plan takes a different direction  :)

I'm not by any means a pro at finishing, but I think you have to wet the grain to get it to swell before sanding.... :dontknow:
 
That's what I did. But rather than a "whiteish" color I got more of a natural maple/brownish/yellowish color
 
i've noticed warmoth's Trans Black finishes look pretty brown sometimes as well. especially their Washed Dye Black, which i think you said you were going for. i still love the look of this thing!
