Schaller-Floyd Tremolo- Tuning Knob Question

I have a Schaller-Floyd (Made In Germany) tremolo on my guitar, and I like to occasionally tune down to a Drop-D.  The problem is that the little fine-tuning screw/knob/whatever-ya-call-it isn't long enough to allow me to do so.  I'd like to get a longer one.

I've noticed that I can only unscrew this "knob" so far before it won't turn anymore.  Is there a way to get these out of the tremolo, or are they permanently "mounted" into the tailpiece/bridge?

Thanks.

I dunno whether the fine tuner screw will come out, but you might investigate whether the D-Tuna will retrofit onto your Schaller Floyd - it's specifically designed to handle the problem you're having.

I checked it out and it looks pretty cool, but I don't always play in Drop D tuning.  I'd say 85% of the time I play in standard tuning.  This also pretty much renders a floating tremolo useless for dive-bombs.

I have a Tremol-No installed on the guitar, so I can get the guitar to stay in Drop D, I just need a longer fine-tuning screw.

Have you tried tuning it to pitch with the fine tuner all the way tight or at least pretty close that way u can have the most travel available to drop it ?

Yes, and there is just enough travel that it is close to tuned correctly, but not spot-on.  I can either be spot-on for E or spot-on for D, but not both.  To get optimal tuning for both tunes, I have to unlock the nut and use the tuning machine, then re-lock the nut again.  It's kind of a pain.

I have a JS32 Jackson, with a "licensed" Floyd, and the fine-tuning screws are plenty long to achieve what I'm looking for, and while that's all fine and dandy, the Warmoth is my baby, by far.  The JS32 is sort of a "beater" guitar that I don't mind dragging over a buddy's house, or something.  When I'm in the confines of my own home, I much prefer to be playing my Warmoth.
