Gregg,
I was (as many of us on the board were) highly intrigued to find out that your Satin Finish Necks are Nitrocellulose Lacquer.  I have a friend that wants to know if I can shoot gloss over it.

I do not see any problems with this but I need to confirm the manufacture that you use in the paint shop.  To confirm that it is not a Pre-Catalyzed Nitro Lacquer.  Could you confirm with the paint guys whose product (name and number) they are using?

If I do shoot a gloss over your finish I will take responsibility for the finish if it fails.
I would appreciate the information so I can make an informed decision.

Tonar if you haven't already, just give 'em a call. I would be interested to hear about this too..

Yes, it is a Catalyzed Nitro Lacquer. Not sure of the brand but there is a flattening agent in it so that the Satin feels super slick.

Thank you,

I will not be spraying Conventional or “Old School” Nitrocellulose Lacquer over Pre-Catalyze or Catalyzed Lacquers.  I appreciate the information so now I know how to get my friend the finish he is after.  We will be starting with an unfinished neck.

Cool. Then we'll be looking forward to seeing another masterpiece from the Tonarski.  :icon_thumright:
