They come in and out of our neighborhood (Plano) all the time too. I live just off Plano Pkwy and I saw one just the other night (about 2 am) running out of our neighborhood right into a open field / wooded area with his quarry in his mouth. A cottontail I think. Anyway he just ran along with his tail in the air and completely satisfied look on his face seemingly without a care in the world.

Hey TexxassJam, on what cross section on Plano Pkwy ? my office is on plano pkwy! :) (well not my office, but the one where  I work :))

Coyotes are swarming in other parts of the country!

Left to their own devices, populations of living things will increase to the level where they're unsustainable and stabilize at that point. It's a simple matter of food supply and protection from the environment. It's usually intervention that causes them to grow oversized and become a problem to themselves and others. If there's too much food and a benign environment, a population will grow to self-destructive levels, rather than maintain a productive balance. Unfortunately, that state will remain for as long as the unnatural imbalance exists, which can be extended for long periods of time.

I'm sorry to hear that!

This is two of my pets.
Zara (the dog) died of age 6 years ago.
Uncle Sam (the cat) is now eight years old, and is the king of the castle.

I've been thinking in buy a kitten, perhaps a big Maine Coon, as it is kinda Shrek like me :laughing7:
But I'm away at home most part of the day and my apartment is small, so think I'd give a very tedious life to the guy, not counting I don't think I'd be the best owner ever  :-\

Cats don't need a lot of space, but while they're not particularly social animals like dogs are, they're still domesticated and require a certain amount of attention that it would be cruel to deny them. Plus, there's a certain amount you have to do whether you want to or not, like clean litter boxes and feed them.

That is one of the reasons I've said I wouldn't be the best owner :laughing7: I get off 6AM and get back 6PM IF I don't do anything but work... in the morning I'm like a Zombie, imagine like I could forget to put food to him and him getting all day without something to eat... =/
That is why I'm not buying a kitten now...

This period has been the first time in my life I haven't had a cat or two, and I seriously miss that. They're wonderfully fun animals. But, I don't miss having to take care of them. It's a chore, albeit a minor one relative to some pets. And it's not only them you have to take care of, it's what other difficulties they bring along. You have animal hair all over the place all the time, and the occasional puddle of puke to squish in between your toes in the middle of the night on the way to bathroom, or toy to step on in your bare feet, or plants dug up, or speaker grills shredded, or furniture snagged all to hell, etc. Now that I think about it, I guess I don't miss it that much <grin>

Who buys a cat?

Someone who has an urge for a particular breed. I've bought several Siamese over the years. There's nothing like them. Although, I'd take a Burmese as well.

Funny you say that.  My latest is a Siamese.  Didn't pay a dime.  She looks like she's finished in Antigua Burst.  I almost named her Antigua, but it's a mouthfull.

Have you had a Siamese before? If not, you're in for a treat. They're not like other cats. She'll surprise you all the time with what she'll learn and do. If she's still a kitten, now's the time to get harness (not a collar) and get her used to it so you can walk her or let her out without worrying about her getting in trouble.

:icon_thumright: on the Warmoth get together. Of course, my schedule in pretty flakey these days, so I don't if I'd be able to participate.
I've lived in Plano since 1971. In 1976, my family moved over near the intersection of Parker and Independence. In 1976 that was as far NW as one could live in Plano...now its the freakin' middle of town! HA!  :icon_biggrin:

Sorry for your loss.  Ironically, my cat resembling yours is named Little Fatty.

As far as TX justice, the cat was being a cat and the coyote was being a coyote, the circle of life.  Rather than try and tame nature, mine don't leave the house.  We've got coyotes all around too.
If  I see any varmites on my place they're taking a dirt nap... :laughing7:
