Okay, first things first.  Here's the neck!  Cagey has it now!

And just to refresh, here's the body.

Ended up putting the roasted maple neck on another bass, but this was the first plan, until that neck came along.

That is one gorgeous piece of neck meat!
Warmoth has certainly outdone themselves on this one!  I can barely contain my excitement, I feel like a little school girl.  Aaron, if you see this, you guys are the BOSS.

No kidding. I had forgotten about that body. This is going to be a spectacular instrument.

Thanks, guys.  Guess I should start putting the rest of it together, then?  :cool01:
Hell, yeah! It's going to be truly outstanding. Nice choice for the neck to go on it. Of course I love that body color. :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

Yowsa! That's one beautiful neck! Should look fantastic married to that body. That fretboard almost looks like it came from the same batch as my JM fretboard did.
You definitely got the better end of the board! (No that I'm complaining, mind you...)

What I'm surprised about is how straight the grain of the neck is, given what it started out as.  Remember this?  Looks like the craftsman took from the straight grain side.

The fretboard was a unique choice.  I had trouble making up my mind, so I asked the Warmoth customer rep (I think Justin was his name) to put three up against the neck wood and help me make a choice.  That was good choice.

I was actually planning for a pretty wild fretboard for PF, given the neck meat.  I had trimmed things up in fretboard shape just to visualize it.  Too bad they couldn't do a one piece bass neck, but I'm not at all disappointed with the result.

Actuall, that reminds me of my Strat neck, also PF:

That is some gorgeous stripy wood you have there. And Cagey's going to give it the full burnishing treatment front and back before fretting - with stainless, I assume? Just make sure you get a firm hold on the thing when it's done!

Ever' thang! Might not do stainless, though. Might go with gold EVO. Still cogitating.

Yessir, full burnishing front and back.  I was planning on stainless, but he says he's out of the 6150 stainless for the moment.  He said, how about gold, or I could order stainless?  I said stainless all the way.  Well, let's look at the gold anyway.  So I did.  Dammit, I kinda like it.

Versus the stainless?

Give me a moment... I'm thinking....

The EVO looks nice against the PF. Question to me would be, how does it look with the chrome bridge and tuners?  :dontknow:

Well, the bridge and tuners are black. The only chrome accent would be the screws, pickup poles, and steel strings.  And it does look good against the PF.

In that case, sound like you're golden! (Pardon the pun.) And  you could always use black screws for the pick guard and pup height adjusters. I did that on my Jazzy, and I really liked the way they blend in with the pickguard so they're hardly noticeable. My plans are to do the same on the Tele build.
