Rear rout control cavity cover

One thing I really hate, it's the black plastic cover for Rear rout control cavity.
Why only plastic and  only black?
With a black guitar ok, but if yellow, red, tobacco or other color black plastic cover is like to be an eyesore... (for me of course)
Why not a wood cover? (Bette: the same wood used for guitar body)
I think it would be very interesting

Kind of on topic but not really, I don't like the fact that the cavities are so huge. I understand it allows for a lot of different control layouts but man if you are using only one volume pot that's a whole lot of tone chamber left over. Couple of choices would be nice. On the topic of covers........at least make them from the available pickguard material too :dontknow:

I think you can get them made from available pickguard material, At least I know you can with trem covers, I've done it.

As far as wood covers go, they never look good, grain is off, color is off, wood covers never look good, they always look like a seperate piece of wood, which they are.

I know of ways to do it using the same exact piece of wood, and it looks awesome, but I'm positive that it wouldn't be economical for Warmoth. It also won't really help you guys, but it is an interesting read.

By the way I don't want it to sound like I figured this method out, but just learned it from this guy.

On my cavedtop tele, I dyed a maple piece from Stewemac.
