I like inlays that have enough contrast to be seen. Besides standard black and white I'd say abalone on light woods and mop on dark woods. Sharkfins say Jackson, trapezoids say LP, but blocks work on a lot of guitars and basses. My Schecter is a prime example....dark rosewood with black pearl dots....dam near invisible. I live and die by the side dots on that guitar.
I'm wondering about binding on the body and/or neck at the moment. I don't know if it needs it.

no guitar needs binding... it's just more expensive (and it's hard to do fretwork in the future)

This whole raffle is out of controll, It should have been kept low key, low profile, but that hasn't happened, seems our gracious winner has started about 20 threads about his new guitar
Taking polls on everything from wood, finnish, neck, Heck I lost track, theres more Raffle spam than I am comfortable even looking at.
I say, say thanks and buy a guitar, don't make a big deal about it, post pics when done.
Nobody is gonna want to go through all this BS of posting polls about every aspect of some raffle guitar ever again. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
I dont blame ocguy for not wanting to do it again, too many wishywashy decisions. And ty btw for doing it.
If I had won, you'd see pics in about a week, and that would be that.
This reminds me of Forrest Gump. was a great movie, and could have ended nicely in about 3 diferrent spots, but kept goin and going......I'm not bashing forrest

Alfgang, it was an option to be a gift certificate or a board build, with a "suggestion" that it "should" be a board build. That said, Blue is going along with the spirit of the raffle, with the board build. How is it supposed to be a board build with out polls, etc. I think the polls help to organize what could be a fuster-cluck of ideas for a build. If you don't like it, don't read it. There are plenty of threads elsewhere, like DIY finishing, to read and comment on.
Since we are all participating and commenting, I would hope those of us doing such "like" such a process. If you don't, then...

Are raffles illegal... :dontknow: If so then there's lots of illegal activity at events everywhere across the US..
