Hey guys,

I know this isn't about body wood, but I don't know where else to post this. I want to do a quilt top strat, and I have never seen before and after pictures of completed wood, but the unique choice woods dont really look that swirly. Will the quilting look more dramatic when the paint is applied, and it is finished?

Thanks,
Logan

if you finish the top with a dye, then the quilt will become more accentuated

+1 :headbang:
If you are spending the $$$ for a unique choice quilt top, than ya should definitely go with a dye job...
It really makes the quilt stand out better than any other finish.
Good luck and be sure to post some pics...

Supposedly they wet the grain of the unfinished tops when photographing so the grain stands out a little bit more.

...which is only fair.  It typically will have much more depth than the pics when finished.  I've had a couple of true blonde basses, but like the others here have noted - color (even an extremely slight amount) will enhance the instrument's wood character.

Hey that's my baby!  I love quilted maple.  I need to get some pics of my quilt maple G5 up on here.  The brown dye turned out really nice.

Aah nice! I found it by browsing through the Warmoth gallery.
