Running this poll for seven days to see, should we ask people to only submit tracks recorded with Warmoth instruments to be on the UW Soundtrack?

Or should being a forum member be enough?

Feel free to post your viewpoints as well.

I feel that it is more about contributing good music.  If we require only Warmoth instruments, then they have to come up with a Warmoth drum kit

Really though, It is more about the musician than what is being played.  What if the guitarist is using a fender, and your using a Warmoth bass?  would that be ok?  Or if you submit a guitar track (using a warmoth), would I be permitted to use my Warwick?  I use a different bass depending on what I am trying to achieve.  What if someone has a Fender P-bass, that has a Warmoth neck.  Is that ok?  The possibilities are endless.  How many Warmoth parts need to be on a given instrument to classify it as a Warmoth?

Yes, we mean ONE (or more) Warmoth instrument(s) in the mix. I know Warmoth doesn't make mics or drums. I just feel if you're on here and showcasing your Warmoth, that we should hear your Warmoth on the track.

As far as how many parts are needed, this might be another poll. Would a Highway One P bass with a Warmoth neck count? I'm going to edit the poll to put this in there.

Im just messin' about the drum kit

But seriously, if you have a fender bass with a warmoth neck, its still a fender bass.

Can I throw some tuners I bought from warmoth and make my Wick into a Moth?  Of course, I am kidding.

Is it still a Fender bass? If the body is Fender but it has a wenge neck on it, I've never seen a Fender like that. That's a Warmoth in my book.

No... That is a Fender with a Warmoth neck on it.  Or, a Warmoth with a Fender body on it.  One part does not make it one or the other.  It is both.

Hence, the poll.  :icon_thumright:  There's going to be a lot of opinions on this.

Hence the inclusion of the Half-Moth category. I have no way of participating in this, but I'm interested in hearing the outcome. That being said, as an observer, it seems as though people are trying to make things more complicated than they need to be.

For those that know me on TB or the Warwick forums, I never mean any harm.

What if I use my 6er Gecko neck, and I make my own body for it?  Which is my plan.  Is it acceptable then?  Oh...more polling

I'm with you, Jones. I think if its got a Warmoth neck or body on it, record it and we'll rock out to it. This is kind of taking on the aura of the drawing / raffle / whatever, with making the rules all complicated. I think it'll work out in the end, but I'm not sure why its being this much of a hassle.

Warmoth forum members + their Warmoth instruments = Warmoth soundtrack, to me at least.

Why are you trying to make this complicated? Do we really need to control it this much, or can we just have it be, "Grab your Warmoth, record it and we'll enjoy it," ??

A warmoth album should feature warmoth instruments. What is the point otherwise except to promote your band?
And Llama dude you are making something simple into a hassle.

I was not the one that posed the question or started any polls.  I am simply offering my point of view to the topic.  It is fine with me, what ever decision is made.  But, there is an unclear set of what is and what is not allowed.  This is because Warmoth is a parts house, not an instrument maker.  If you were on the fender site, and they were making an album, but you wanted to use your Sadowsky, that would be different.   As I stated earlier, I do not mean any harm at all.  But I do think that someone should say what is in, and what is not.

If we require that every track feature a full Warmoth (or a "Half-Moth") how are we going to enforce this requirement?

I voted for the "Half-Moth" option in the poll, but I think it should be a strong recommendation, not a requirement.

If I were in the position of recording a song for this project, and after laying down all the tracks and starting the final mix I realized that my Zon/Carvin/whatever bass happens to sound better than any of my Warmoth Gecko basses, I would hate to make the difficult choice of either (a) backing out of the project just because I re-recorded the bass track with a non-Warmoth instrument, or (b) mixing it anyway and being unhappy with the result.

That sounds like a fantastic idea, Tubby. We strongly suggest using a Warmoth or Half-Moth, but if you can't, submit anyways.

Any objections?

No objections from me.  I agree with TT on this one.

i hate rules.
many of us have good instruments that are stock or only half warmoth or have non warmoth mods. some have a first warmoth in the works or on the way. i see the forum as like a community of sorts. i don't know why, like drawing we need to exclude people or things. if somebody contributes to the forum or even respectfully asks for help why should they be excluded base on what instrument they have available at a given point in time.
let's not make an album to praise warmoth but do something as a community event. most of us are here cuz we are not elitists that believe one guitar or another are the holy grail of guitars and if you want a good sound you must use this or that or the other thing. so why be so exclusive on this?

True, we want as many people to participate as possible.

So do we want to just say we're suggesting using Warmoths, but if you can't then submit anyways? I think that's the best way to keep everyone happy.

It should be for Unofficial Warmoth members. Anybody could lie and say they recorded what ever on a Warmoth. Would anybody be able to dispute it?

It's about the forum members.  :icon_thumright:

We allowed those who already own Warmoth guitars into the raffle. Someone who has not been able to afford one of their own, might have found it slightly unfair that someone who can afford 1, 2, 3 or more Warmoths be allowed to win another one. We still have members who have been here for a while and still can't afford a Warmoth, but are great players and great forum members. So it goes both ways.
