Purple Quty Pie

I love the tummy cut on teles.  I have it on mine.  Fender should make it standard.

Hmmm.... someone at the big W. appears to have liked my idea.

This showed up in the RSS feed today (along with a surprising number of purple-based color schemes).  I hope mine shows up before this one does in the completed builds forums...any word, Uncle Cagey?

Purple does seem to be getting more popular. Might be because so few examples exist.

As for your little lovely, we're doing fine. Should ship Monday or Tuesday, depending on transportation issues. Shouldn't have taken this long, but the weather here has been atrocious, so the garage is beyond miserable. On the plus side, your neck has seen some pretty wild temperature and humidity changes and it hasn't moved. That Warmoth Pro design is the whip. I'll try to post some pictures later.

Awesome, thank you, Cagey - I have hesitated to check in because, well, customers can be a real pain in the shorts when they check on work.

She's here.  Here's your tease, ladies and gents.

Cagey, your workmanship is exquisite.  I'm taking her across the street to Gryphon at lunchtime to plug into an amp and hear her voice.

Thanks! Pay special attention to that neck pickup - it's extra-sweet - and how the volume control works. I think you're going to be very pleased. Also, how linear the tone control works.

I held on to those things for a long time hoping to find the right home for them. Looks like that finally happened. :occasion14:

Thanks, Pabloman, for doing so - they certainly look handsome installed.  I opted for cream coils on the outside, instead of the inside, to replicate how they're installed on the Santana model PRS.  That's the opposite of how they are laid out in my mockup.

Lighting in my office is crap, so I'll get a photo at home tonight to really show it off.

Peace

You definitely nailed the placement of the volume and tone knobs, Cagey.  Perfect.

Thanks. You'll also notice that the pickup selector switch isn't exactly up/down or forward/back, it's in a sweep line with the volume/tone controls. But, it's a beefy enough switch that you can slap it up/forward or back/down and still get the results you need. Shouldn't get in your way regardless of what you're used to, but once you get used to this, you'll wonder why anyone does it different.

I had actually kinda unconsciously  picked up on that, and the fact that it didn't even register consciously suggests you made the right choice in the orientation.  Nifty.

I'm no professional player, but I've played in enough band situations to learn that you don't want to fight your controls, or even think about them much, if at all. They should be as simple and as nearly instinctive as possible.

Oh sweet Spaghetti Monster.  I'm in love.

I played Quty Pie through a Vox AC15 for 15 minutes at lunchtime and it's all over, boys.  This is the best guitar I've ever played, much less owned.  You're right, Cagey, the neck pickup is a delicious thing to experience.  And the tone control is tremendously useful.

Pabloman, thank you for these pickups.  They're insanely good.

I also took a Vox AC4TV for a little spin, and walked out of the store with one.  I have been in need of a low-powered combo to make noise at home without bringing plaster down from the ceiling.  Me likey.

I'm surprised Pabloman let go of those pickups. They're quite the pair. Much as I dislike cluttering up the house or storage with things I don't use, if it would have been me, I'd have kept them even without a target instrument to put them in. I'm not sure who makes them, but it's a nice recipe, whatever it is.

Those are the PRS SantanaII pickups. I had them for a while. Every build I planned for them somehow morphed into something less classy or more aggressive or more raunchy. I hated to part with them but I couldn't more thrilled by where they ended up.  Good job guys!
