It's eerie - every time this thread comes up, I've just gotten off a pop rock bender that invariably includes The Bangles' "Walk Like an Egyptian". While I'm at it I usually have to hear some Billy Idol and Alice Cooper, maybe even some Black Sabbath. I mean, what's wrong with "Rebel Yell" at high volume through the headphones? Listen to that guitar. That's a tone and timing to get.

Then, I get over it.

Yeah, I'm a pop rock slut. So sue me.

I just picked up a couple Sabbath CD's cheap (Debut and Paranoid), as well as a couple Mastodon CD's and someone at work was giving away a bunch of CD's.  Most of them were crap, but I picked up a Red Rider compilation CD.  Good stuff there.  Way better than "Tom Cochrane and Red Rider"

I like these Mutemath kids! Until the singing... and they did an astounding job on the "Kitties at a Tennis Game." You could see them catching the wave about 24 seconds in, and then from 0:45 on they just lock in down, dude. Better than... kitties at a tennis game! Makes ya proud of the species....

I'm with you, Stubby (notable exception:  Soulshine).  Warren does some of the best covers of others' work I've heard.
