Polyurethane - what pigments to use to get transparent brown?

While waiting for the neck for my Warmoth strat, I decided to repair finish on the rear of my old strat. I'm trying to get a similar Transparent Brown as Warmoth use for their finishes. I bought polyurethane lacquer and brown pigment, tried to mix them together and... they can't be mixed. What kind of pigment should I use to get transparent brown?

TransTint or MEK dye from LMI.

Thanks for that Tonar! As those dyes are based on alcohol, then I assume that all alcohol based dyes should mix nicely with polyurethane laquer, aren't they?

They should. You can do a small test sample and will able to tell compatibility immediately. If it is not compatible it will not disperse in the material or it will cause it to coagulate.
