I'm trying to build a rock/metal guitar and would love some feedback; especially regarding the DL quilted maple laminate, the finish (too light of a color?), the neck radius (do you like the compound neck?), and the neck binding (what option have I selected that prevents me from having binding?)

Body style: VIP
Core wood: mahogany
Laminate: DL quilted maple
Right handed
rear mount
Neck and Bridge humbucker with 24 fret mod
PRS controls
7/8" input rout
schaller 456 bridge
strat pocket
4-bolt construction
black binding
Finish: transparent purple

Neck style: warmoth pro angled
core wood: wenge
fretboard: ebony
Nut width: 1 & 11/16"
right handed
wizard contour
neck radius: 10-16" compound
fretboard length: 24
Binding: none
Fret size: stainless steel 6105
schaller tuning holes
no inlay
nut: graphtech black
4 bolt mounting holes

They don't do bindings on necks with SS frets unfortunately.

If you want a really specific shade of purple, you can always get Tonar to do your finish!  It is guaranteed to come out amazing looking if you do it that way (although I don't think you would be disappointed with Warmoth's finishing either).

A month or two ago they announced that they can finally do binding and SS frets on the same build. There'll be an extra upcharge for it, though.

They do now! :)
plus the binding was on the body, not on the neck unless OP changed it after the fact. (not that black binding would be noticable on a wenge/ebony neck anyhow)

I've seen a few pictures of both the transparent purple and the purple dye and they all look different.  I'm looking for a DEEP purple, almost black.  I'm not a huge fan of sending it elsewhere because I'd like to get it done all at the same time/place.  I just don't want to not know what I'm getting before I purchase it.

I will say that all three Warmoth bodies that I got, 2 finished and one unfinished, blew my mind when I opened the box.  So much better looking in person than what I saw in the pictures.  Tonar's work is also, Grade A+, 100% phenomenal, so you can't go wrong either way.

Also, dont forget to talk to Ken at Roadhouse Pickups when you're ready to order. He goes by TroubledTreble on the forum.

And......Doug (DangerousR6) for a custom neck plate.

As was corrected earlier, they do put binding on necks with SS frets now.

Also, if you give Warmoth pictures of a finish you're looking to recreate, they've been great about that for me in the past.  Warmoth's finish shop is second to none.

Do you have a website for Tonar?
He's a member here.  If you look in just about any thread in DIY Finishing you're bound to find him.  Send him a msg.
