Placement of string through holes in Vintage vs Am Std Tele Bridges

So I bought my tele body already having six string through holes drilled, but not the bridge attachment screw holes. I thought this meant I could have my pick between a four screw vintage bridge and a three screw modern Fender bridge. Although the placement of the attachment holes differ (above and below the string through holes, respectively), I wrongly assumed the distance between the bridge pickup cavity and the string through holes adhered to some standard. When I line up my modern bridge, it's just slightly off with the cavity.

That's frustrating!

If the string-through holes are in the vintage, 4 screw position, the world is your lobster in terms of bridge choice.

Oh nice! It looks like Gotoh makes a modern six saddle bridge with four screws. Can I count on the distance to the pickup cavity being correct? Most places don't show that measurement ...

You should be pretty safe with any 4 screw bridge. The Gotoh fits the vintage pattern perfectly.

You can see the differences here.

These bridges with modern six saddles fit and are made by Gotoh
