Pickguard video

Since the pickguard page hasn't changed much in ages I suggest a video to show color & thickness differences. Whenever I create a pickguard online I'm limited by the low resolution photo samples. Unlike what you are doing with the bodies & necks (holding them) I suggest camera closeups of the pickguards against finished bodies with solid/metallic colors.

I'd like to see all the whites (parchment/green) and all the pearls on a body, for example a red or a blue body. Also, closeups of pickguards with different thickness on a body to see how they look on it.

Sounds like a logistical nightmare to me. Multiply the number of pickguard variations by the number of body finish possibilities, and you end up with a pretty big number. I could be wrong, but I suspect the amount of time involved in coding to present that could never be be paid back.

But, maybe there's something I'm not considering.

I suggested a similar video as the ones with colors showed on bodies, the shapes are irrelevant. What I want to see are colors & thickness, I meant for any pickguard shape (strat or tele or jazz or precision) in whites & pearls against one or two finished bodies. If no pickguards are available blanks will do, video closeups would show more than the pickguard page in their site.

There are 7 whites (including the creams, green, parchment) and 3 pearls. It won't take much time to show how they look on a body.

I suspect what you're asking would be too involved for a practical video. You could have Warmoth send you samples of the ones you are considering then put them on your own body, or a paint chip, to see how they look. I did that with several of the pearl colors (pearloid solid, white pearl and vintage pearl). It really helps to know what they are really like. It also gives you an exact thickness to compare to control plates and whatnot. In fact, right now I have a PG sample on a paint chip on my desk as I write this.

I second the samples.  My color coordinator ordered swatches from the website and picked out the pickguard color for my new build immediately.  Actually, having them in hand is more accurate than looking at pics or  Videos.  You can tell how thick they are, and the color by holding them in hand.  Nothing better than touching.

Unfortunately they only send swatches to US addresses and I think Kostas is in Greece.

That issue can be overcome by sending the swatches to a usa address and then forwarding them on.

I'm not looking for a pickguard at the moment, I have looked in the past and so friends of mine. The pickguard page in their site is outdated and it has been for years, I'm talking about the photos and their resolution.

The thread is a suggestion and I suggested a simple video because there is only one video with one pickguard, the yellow tortoise. A body on a bench and the pickguards on the body, it will last a couple minutes to show a few pickguards. I suspect the strat guard is the one with the most sales, just the shape will do, it doesn't have to be routed for pickups, pots etc. I can't imagine they don't have ready or they can't make strat pickguards when they have assembled guitars for other videos, they take measurements for pickup heights etc.

Showing different colors like Aaron has done with bodies is a simple thing. I suggested to be shown on a body because I think it will show the pickguard better, he has already done that on the yellow tortoise video.

It's a good idea for a video. I can see the usefulness of at least comparing White, Parchment, Mint, and Cream. I'll add it to our list.

It might take a while to get to. Videos are done in our "spare time", prioritized behind lots of other things....and our list is long.

The other thing that moves a video like this to the back of the bus is that it probably wouldn't generate many views. The tone-comparison videos always generate lots of views. By contrast, the Yellow Tortoise pickguard video you mentioned only has about 7k views after almost three years.

On the other hand, comparing the four "white" guards would be a quick one to shoot, so who knows....maybe it will be easier to fit in to some little gap in the near future.

Not to hijack, ok, guess I am actually, but also more videos of the satin colors!!! They just look so different then on the build web page.
