Peg hole

Hello everyone, This is my first post and I apologize if this subject has been covered. (I promise, I did a search)
I just purchased a J neck and didn't look close enough at the specs. The peg holes are 17.5mm and I have Schaller tuners to fit but I would like to use Hipshot Ultralite to help with the weight. Are bushings an option?

Are the light weight Schallers much heavier than the light weight Hipshots?

I believe that you can get hipshot ultralites with different bushing sizes to retrofit to older necks.  I know it was no problem installing them into my bass player's Jazz Bass neck that originally had schaller tuners on it.  I just looked at the dimensions from hipshot and ordered the right ones.

Hipshot Ultralights come in different sizes ...

• USA 1/2", 1/2" shaft, 11/16" (17.5mm) bushing
• Licensed 1/2", 1/2" shaft, 5/8" (16mm) bushing
• USA 3/8", 3/8" shaft, 9/16" (14mm) bushing
• Licensed 3/8", 3/8" shaft, 9/16" (14mm) bushing

The difference in weight is roughly 1 oz total for four tuners.

Buy the USA 1/2" Ultralights and you should be all set.
