Sonically this is the best guitar I have owned, I know I say that every other guitar, but this one really covers all the bases I need. All-Lollar pickups: Neck P90, middle "special" neck strat pickup, bridge "special" tele. Switching just goes 1. neck 2. middle 3. neck / bridge 4. middle / bridge 5. bridge. RS guitarworks pot, .022 cap from radio shack. Body is lightweight solid ash finished in zinsser amber shellac followed by paste wax. Neck is a pro / SRV maple & kingwood, 6130 frets and Gotoh locking vintage look tuners. Yes that's an Earvana nut.

Two great strat sounds added to the awesomeness of a P90 tele. Weight just over 7 lb. Yeehaw! I will be posting sound clips for this.

I am going to get the fret ends rounded and the FB edges rolled, but there is not a fret out of place. Volume balance (P90 is loud) is the only real issue. Playing with height helps a lot, but you get out of the 'sweet spot' before it is truly volume balanced. Eventually I might try an underwound lollar neck pickup.

That's nice looking.  How do you like the Lollar bridge?  I got a Lollar vintage bridge for my Tele (haven't quite finished it yet), and I'm pretty excited to try it out based on the soundclips I heard.

It looks like you need to get a new neckplate though... that one doesn't have anything on it  :icon_thumright:

i love this thing! not only does the fretboard have awesome grain, but it just looks like a player. cool tele

Hi
Very nice tele.

Guess I have to look into that shellac finish for my future projects.

Wow, if that's shellac...Beautiful job. French polish is not an easy process and getting a consistent finish like that takes a lot of patience.   :rock-on:

Nice tele!
I was actually thinking about doing a similiar pick up set up can't wait for sound clips

Thanks, yeah I need to get some sound clips up for a couple of guitars now. Wife's away, hmm, maybe today.

Hmm, this only kind of sounds right. Oh, crap, I used my crappy mic for it! Oh well at least you got something. Recording this makes me realize all the limitations of internet sound files - this will sound a lot better with a decent mic and someone who knows how to record. It's also kind of interesting to see how little the middle really adds to the usefulness of this axe. My fave position is neck + bridge.

Just for grins I played the same sloppy thing just with a Rhode Nt-1a about 3 feet from the speaker instead. This sounds closer to the real sound.

Edit: Whipped out the four board member strat and played the same thing (sorry!) the same way and posted the file there: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=14114.0

That could be a really nice lead into Zeppelin's Heartbreaker.  :icon_thumright:
