Nothing too fancy here. I found a Bass neck on Craigslist a while back complete with Hipshot Ultralites and and an Xtender. I tried to go cheap on the body and ended up trashing it, so here is the Warmoth I ordered. It has a well-matched grain pattern that I'll finish natural to match the neck. I mocked it up with the hardware I have for it.

Is that a zebrawood face? It's a fine-looking piece, whatever it is. You must be very happy.

Cheaping out on body/neck parts has been known to cause a lot of people grief. You end up spending money twice to get one product. Hopefully, you'll only need the one lesson <grin>

Not zebra, just a nicely matched two piece swamp ash grain pattern. And I am very happy with it. You are right about cheaping out on the main parts. I think I forgot to mention above that the neck was a Warmoth also (that's what interested me on the craigslist post).

That's some very unusual swamp ash. You did well getting that one.

There are often some interesting pieces available on Craig's List for very reasonable prices. People get started on projects, then move on, and are left with various cats and dogs they don't know what to do with.

Might I suggest a slight vintage tint in the finish to slightly darken up the clear gloss. That sort of finish goes well on swamp ash & maple.

The pickup is an EMG PA (it is in the picture but hard to see). I got it and a BTS (active bass and treble controls) off ebay.

I have a test piece of ash I'll try out the finish on. It may need some tint to go with the already finished neck.
