Roy B.

Just about every Xmas he played the Stanley Theater here in Pittsburgh.

We always got to sit in the orchestra pit.

I was young and really didn't know what I was hearing... wish I had a time machine.

I might catch shit for this one...but Taintstick's cd came out yesterday and I gotta show support for Ellismate...

My friend is really into Ludo.  I haven't really gotten around to checking them out yet though.

I want everyone to hear this, so they'll know it's already been done and they don't ever, ever need to play like that. :hello2:

Dont be embarrassed.  A couple of guys I work with are going to his gig tonight. They dressed up especially. And I'm being serious!  You should be embarrassed for them. Meet James and Seb everybody.

I don't know if this qualifies as obscure, but I can't stop listening to these guys. And I dig the sound this guy is getting out of his Flying V, it's just nasty and dirty.

Bringing this back and wanted to share a band I really liked earlier in the year and just started listening to again.

Orange Sky, a Jamaican metal band out of Trinidad. I'm serious, JAMAICAN METALl! :headbang1:
These songs are from their cd: Dat Iz Voodoo, lots of great musicianship all over it. The drummer is insane, especially near the end of "Roses".

That brings The Beyond back to mind... one of the great (the only?) British metal bands from the early 90s that unfortunately fell by the way side.  One of the first techo metal bands of the time (as they were called back then - weird time signatures etc.).  Neil Cooper - now practicing with Therapy? - is probably still one of the most technically gifted drummers in rock.

Their first album, Crawl, is definitely one to check out.

+1 to Danny Gatton, he's just the man

I would say the band I'd recommend most isn't even a guitar oriented thing. It's the Dave Weckl Band, and I think it'd make you shift in your seat for the first album you get your hands on. but for guitarists, I'd recommend his 'Rhythm of The Soul' (featuring both Buzz Feiten AND Frank Gambale).

Did I recommend this before? Anyway... most people know of Daniel Lanois, many know and like his work as a producer - but his solo records are not as well known, which is a bloody shame. This song is a masterpiece:
