Noob question about neck joints...

I'm hoping to build a Glenn Tipton replica like this one...

I was wondering about the access to the higher frets and what would be the best way to go about building the neck joint.
 
The best way is a neck thru the body.... but its not the cheapest or easiest way
 
Neck through would be ideal, long tenon at the very least.

Stew Mac sells a thru body guitar neck.  All you'd need to do is glue on the body wings and shape the headstock.

On the downside it is a tilt back headstock and I'm not sure if the scale length is correct.

I couldn't find any on the website for a locking nut. any ideas?
