Just a lark, but it's come to my attention lately that Schecter makes affordable seven strings in thick neck profiles. Not crazy about the TOM, but oh well.

However.... I don't resemble the traditional seven banger in any way, shape or form. I have zero use for a neck humbucker, or any humbucker clean for that matter. I'm not looking for cookie monster death metal, I just have a bug in my ear about P4 tuning repeating nicely in seven strings, and schecter sounds like something worth a shot.

What options are there for a seven string humbucker that is more in line with something like a Stag Mag / Filtertron / something resembling jangly or approaching crisp?

You need to contact John Carlsen. (www.carlsengutiar.com)

He is based in Tacoma, Wa.  He custom winds pickups, at very reasonable prices.

He custom wound my Bari-Twang Humbucker for my Baritone Telecaster.

I specifically wanted something like a cross between a Filtertron/Vintage PAF, and he delivered on the first punch.  I also wanted, dual screw coils instead of a slug coil combined with a screw coil, He delivered.

Seriously, contact him, he does great work, easy to work with, and all of my local friends that have had pickups wound for them are extremely pleased also.

I would suggest asking Ken, TroubledTreble, from Roadhouse Pickups as well.  He has some interesting models of pickups and you can get them customized.  Several of the folks around the board have tried his work with good reviews.

I didn't even think about Ken because of the bobbins,  but being willing to sacrifice the stock pickup for bobbins.... certainly opens up possibilities.

I appreciate the mentions.

I do have 7 string bobbins for humbucker and singles.

I do like to suggest find a local winder if possible. A custom pickup can be made. The hard things to find for 7s are covers for the buckers. Not the singles though.
