New video: vintage vs modern Tele bridge

Well, always using the gotoh modern bridge with Highwood saddles, and yes, these grub screws are annoying.
And, gotoh is metric, but, for a callaham and a hipshot i had to buy imperial screws, also annoying. :-)

Btw. i'm prefering the saddles due to intonation, so i'm surprised this wasn't an issue...

Every set of strings may require different intonation setting. I’m not sure how much difference there would be for a set of 9s, 10s, 11s, 12-60, Baritone set, etc. or whatever people wish to use.

I thought the 3-saddle was compensated (?).
You are right, these Gotoh saddles are compensated:
"
Built-in compensation
Unique grooves molded into these saddles move each string's point of contact for more exact intonation than traditional barrel saddles.
"
Never tried these, couldn't intonate easily with the traditional saddles, thats why i became a fan of "one saddle per string".

I know that lots of people like the Gotoh In-Tune saddles, and I started off with them on a Tele that I built a few years ago where I wanted the three-barrel bridge…but I was never able to get them satisfactorily intonated. I ended up buying some compensated saddles from Callaham, which worked like a charm. The Gotoh saddles obviously work for lots of people, but if you want another option, check out the Callaham options.

I have the Gotoh saddles for the Tele project that I haven't completed yet. I hope they're gonna intonate good. If not, it's good to know that I can switch to Callaham.

Mee too, so i gonna try the Gotoh BS-TC1S or Callaham! Aaron mentioned both have the same rout, AND, it's also a matter of weight, the three-barrels should be much lighter (as Aaron also mentioned).

The Callaham should be this one:

https://www.callahamguitars.com/tele_bridge_vintageTmodel_catalog.htm
  • Callaham 3 Brass Tele Saddles
    (please specify)
    • Enhanced Vintage Compensated Brass Saddles
    • or Slant Compensated Brass Saddles
Anyone knows the difference of these two saddle-types?

Edit: Found the answer here:

https://www.callahamguitars.com/tech_telebridgedetails.htm

"Our saddles are also available with either our original slant compensation or our enhanced vintage compensation. The enhanced vintage compensated saddles were introduced for those who want to maintain a complete vintage look and have perfect intonation. They offer the same benefits of our original slant compensated saddles but with a 90 degree look of an original 50's saddle."

EditEdit:

This saddles also look interesting:

https://musiccitybridge.com/products/groove-master

"They have a great array of micro grooves to secure the spacing wherever you prefer and a clear intonation line in a carefully tested profile to keep you perfectly in tune."

Groove baby, groove! (But, the Gotoh also have a slot for spacing issues)

And, yes, i know, it's another rabbit-hole, but what else to do on a sunday morning? :-)

I have two tellys, one with the Gotoh BS-TC1S with In-Tune saddles and one with a Göldo vintage bridge, that I updated with ABM VCS "Vintage Compensated Saddles".

Both the Gotoh and ABM compensated saddles do their job equally well. Visually, I prefer the ABM, because the brass of the Gotoh ones seems to be coated or impregnated, so they don't tarnish, while the ABM ones already start getting a patina.

It's a matter of taste, really, but I like it better if brass looks like brass, instead of trying to look like gold.

I have the Gotoh bridge with the three compensated saddles (the fancy engraved one) on one Tele and it seems to intonate pretty well. No complaints. However, I prefer my six-saddle "fat" Tele bridge 😁.
