I just picked up this warmoth "tele-paul" on trade for an korean epiphone casino that I wasn't playing. Didn't know much about warmoth going into the deal, and don't know much more now apart from the fact that this guitar plays awesome.

It's a 2011 build carved mahogany top, mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard. It has all Gotoh hardware and stewmac parson street PAF clones. It looks great (IMO) and plays fantastic. Here's some pics:

Welcome to the board!

And not to take anything away from the Casino, but I think you got the better half of the deal there. That's a fine piece of work!

hmmm...well...I guess you can't return it, but if the missing pick gaurd is an issue for you just let me know and I'll give you an address where you can ship it  :laughing7:

Seriously though, I think you'll be much more pleased with this guitar.

Welcome to the boards.  I think you've discovered that high quality guitars you assemble and set up yourself will often exceed what you can buy in a store, and you can make exactly what you want.  Over the years, I've certainly purchased major brand guitars, but most of my collection (and most of my gigging instruments) are all at least partially Warmoth.

I realized the other day that I don't have a single bass in my home that's not Warmoth.  I still own a couple Fenders and Gibsons, but they're loaned out.  Everything I use is Warmoth.  When it comes to guitars, I still play my Les Paul and a Peerless-made Epiphone archtop, but my Warmoths and Halfmoths (Fenders with Warmoth necks) are what I reach for.

By the way, that's a nice looking carved top Tele.  If you hang around these boards much, you'll see that we have lots of members who enjoy building all sorts of fun stuff.  There's a guy (Doug/DangerousR6) who makescustom neckplates and trusrod covers, a guy who makes custom wound pickups (Ken/TroubledTreble), and a host of finishing guys (we consider Tonar to be our unofficial guru; check out his threads!).  Once you get the mod bug... it's over.

Carved tops don't get pickguards :)

No, but you can see in one of the shots above that this one apparently has had a Les Paul style pickguard installed at one time. The screws are still there.

Wow, that looks amazing. Sometimes I forget how great and simple clear coated mahogany looks. Good choice on the PAF clones as well  :guitarplayer2:

Thanks everyone...I am very impressed with this guitar so far. To put the pickguard debate to bed, it did come with one in the case. I've since reattached it. Jury is still out whether or not it remains. I'm kind of a fan of no pickguard on most of my guitars. Here's a crappy pic with pickguard:

And here are some of my others without picguards, and the casino that I traded (it was an exceptional peerless example, but I never bonded with it). Yes, I am bit of an epiphone nut.

I vote no guard as well. And I like that Sheraton. Welcome! It's not really a forum, it's more like a black hole- you will never get out now, and your Warmoths will miraculously multiply through no fault of your own. At least, that's what I tell my wife is happening...  :occasion14:

Hands down ...... No pickguard  :headbang:  ..... I never put mine on my Gibson LP  :icon_biggrin:

That is a great slab, the neck looks darn great too ..... nice score !!

I vote for no PG as well.  I really don't like the idea of covering a nice piece of wood with plastic.  My earlier comment was only a joke...I didn't meant to suggest that one should be installed.
