with a the hype on artist tribute guitars for $10,000 + im doing a daivd gilmor tribute stratfor 10x's cheaper. love the black look. it'll have a wilkinson trem and rio grande pickups. birdseye maple neck and vintage tuners, white pickups and knobs. all the goodies. im stoked. it will take most of the year to get all the parts together since my wife would freak if i dropped $1200 at once. so $100-$200 a month in parts i'll have it done by my birthday in October. im getting the neck first since i feel the neck is the key to the whole guitar.

yeah just got the approval to build in pieces but not at once.

But see, time is money! So it's like spending money now with no return until you get the whole thing together in nearly a year. As opposed to getting your "value" out of playing it all year. Plus, you have to remember the upcoming price increases whenever Warmoth gets their new site up and running. I priced stuff out, and it's going to be a 25 to 50% price increase on bodies and necks depending on what you want. (I found this out on Christmas day and told my wife the day after. She said I should go ahead and order, since I'd end up getting it eventually. Better to do it at once and cheaper!)

Don't mean to get you in trouble with the Mrs. though. Besides, anticipation over time pays off. Keep us updated with pics!

One of these days I'll build an Adrian Smith and a David Murray Strat.  Coming soon to a Jackson/Fender dealer in '09.  Cost estimated to be about $2800 each.  :laughing7:

Very cool idea warcripp, now if you can get it to sound like Gilmour's, that would be something..... :icon_thumright:

The issue with sounding like Gilmour is that you need his custom built pedal board of doom, several amps and of course his fingers. ;)

Good plan :icon_thumright: If everything goes my way I`ll be building a Gilmour black strat this year as well. Good luck :blob7:
