Part of the secret is a hard rock maple/ebony neck  and the fact that it's neck goes all the way to the back of the rear pickup.

The client wanted a small body but deep tone , so I mounted the pickups closer to the neck than on my old Jazz .   

As you can see it's got both more neck and less body

The french polish made it super slick , If you want a FAST neck , try Zinzer 's shellac    it's amazing

Delivered the Bass on Friday Night to  Chris Conrad , bassist for Copper into Steel,  he was very pleased and commented it was the best bass he'd ever played. 
Off to it's first gig on Saturday and all is happiness.

Onto the next project!
