Neck-Through-Body Blanks?

Betting I'm not the first to suggest this, but I'm curious if Warmoth has ever considered building necks with a through-body option.

Maybe even slap a couple chunks of wood on either side and pre-route it?  Could be a fun project option.

Juuust sayin'.

I don't know if they've ever considered it, but I imagine the warranty issues might be a big concern unless there were a lotta disclaimers.

Keisel (Carvin) makes some 6, 7 and 8 string through-body necks that they'll sell loose. Ebony over Maple, 25" scale, already nutted/fretted, 24 frets, dual-action truss rod, and reasonably priced. I bought one of their bolt-on versions of the same thing about 10 years ago and they're pretty nice.

Yes.  I too have been considering the Carvin/Keisel for a build.  You can ultra customize the neck too but it does get pricey quickly.

I looked to see what options were available for the 6 string neck-thru, and there are none. What you see is what you get. I'd prefer stainless frets, of course, but I can handle that myself. And there's no finish available, but you wouldn't want one on a paddle head anyway - you're gonna be drilling/cutting on it. Some wood choices might be nice, but Ebony over Maple isn't a Bad Thing. Quite the opposite.

I'm attracted to the idea of building a 24 fret neck-thru, but every time I think about what would make a good body style, I come up with a minor variation of a Strat. More like a Soloist, actually. So, what would I be accomplishing? I can get Soloist bodies and 24 fret necks already. No sense reinventing the wheel.

Click on the "Build & Order This Neck" link on the right.  There's a ton of options.  There is at least one option that's not even listed — changing the scale length to 25.5" — and maybe others that you can get by calling in your order.  Stainless Steel frets are standard now.

I did that. On the page that shows up, it said "There are no Upgrade Options for this model. Click the Continue button to select finishes and other options."

Somehow, all that registered in my deflicted brane was "There are no Upgrade Options for this model."

But, you're right. If you click "continue", it takes you to yet another page where there are all sorts of options. Apparently, they don't consider those "upgrades", they're just "options".

I'm no webmaster, but I think I might have designed those pages slightly differently :icon_biggrin:
