Neck joint sealer

Hi,

Is it recommended that the neck pocket be sealed? Just got a G4 and I notice it's bare. If it needs a seal what would you recommend?

The body is Swamp Ash with lam.

No one I know has sealed the neck pocket.  I suppose you could, but usually the woods mate tight enough to not worry about it (I certainly haven't given it a thought until just now).

I wouldn't do it personally, because a lot of sealers and finishes, if you clamp something to it for long enough then it'll stick. Leave it bare and it'll come away easily whenever you unscrew it.

I don't seal mine, obviously, and all the pockets in my Fenders are bare too.
