Here's the body, bridge pickup and trem. Mahogany core, Zebrawood top, Seymour Duncan TB-14, black FR. Still waiting on the neck (apologies to the people who replied to my panic thread in the general forum)

That'll be nice.  What neck are you gonna put on it?

Is the body finished already or will you have a go at the finish?

See attached for a gallery picture of the neck. The body is currently unfinished, I'm going to stain the top red with natural binding and stain the back black, then all over in satin nitro.

can't wait...WARMOTH must have had a run on zebra wood....Lots of them floating aorudn the board these days...

I notice you did not recess the floyd.  I assume you angled the neck pocket.  I went the other way...I am curious to see how it turns out...

are you going to stain the neck too?  If you are..the zebra wood takes the stain much better (read darker) than the maple...

Very cool, I haven't really like zebra wood in the past, but it's starting to grow on me a bit... :icon_thumright:

Yeah, angled pocket - I'm a huge EVH fan and I've had floating floyds before, I guess I prefer the stability when bending/breaking strings.

I'm not going to stain the neck, probably satin nitro like the body - I'd like to just oil it but that won't cover the warrenty

cool.  looking forward to it...from one satin zebra strat with a floyd to another...except mine has chrome hardware.... :occasion14:

I really like yours, looks more like tiger skin than zebra!

Edit: one thing that's just scarily dawned on me, with the floyd w/angled pocket, does that mean I can have the trem flat against the body, ala EVH? Or does it mean it floats above the body? I've actually had a strat with a floyd that floated above the body, and I didn't like it... the  neck pocket was way more angled though

You should be able to rest it flat against the body, just depends on how everything fits together, personally I like mine just a little off of the body. Mainly to keep  from damaging the body, and you can always block the trem from the underside so it won't pull up...

Good, I've thought of putting something between the trem and the body, maybe a thin piece of plastic. Eddie used a coin - f*ck that!

even withthe recess...I still used a small piece of rubber...look between the tuners and you can see it...

Most of mine that I don't want any pull up action, I take a small piece of material, such as aluminum or phenolic. And bolt it down in the underside cavity rout, so that the trem block rests up against it.

very nice idea..I bet it helps when a string breaks too!
Do you have to adjust it with different gauges of strings??

I normally use the same string gauge all the time, but I don't see that it would make much of a difference...But it could be made to be adjustable...

Nice zebrawood.  Hope it smells as good as the zebrawood I milled back in the 80s
