My first Roasted Ash body and Bocote Neck

I think it might be neat to have a pickguard made of a material like (thin) copper or brass.  You can pretty easily oxidize those materials using household products for a cool patina look.

I just pass by a guitar shop , find a fender master build with weathered aluminum pickguards look quite nice.

I thinking made a engraved aluminum pickguards with weathered finish.

Here is just put aluminum pickguards on it  .

I planing to filling dark sunken wood grain with silvery color , and other part iron rusted effect.

here is how it look with the neck

Nice body/neck combination. The neck has some streaks that are the same color, but of course the body will darken with a finish and the whole thing will look even better.

I'd be tempted just to finish it with some clear gloss and play it. It's gorgeous without anything else on it.

have done some test on finish , no so the way I imagining , need more test .

here are the engraved aluminum pickguards design drawing ,

it from my White tail sea eagle photography

That engraving will look great. Especially if you start with anodized aluminum and engrave into that.

So, you're using silver as a grain filler? That ought to be an interesting effect. I'll look forward to seeing how that turns out.

yes , this not like tradition way do the grain filler after done clear coat , so it not so pretty and shiny, not suggested for polished look .

but should be good for the weathered metal finish look I planning.

Your test piece of engraving looks good. I think the overall effect will be stunning.

I've never even thought of that before, following the lines of the grain with paint. This looks so cool!
