I'm guessing the PRS sounds better by virtue of the fact that it has strings.

it hard to said which is "sounds better" , unless they are  similar spec / wood

this PRS is Maple On Mahogany , and VIP is Maple On alder body .

I hope it work well with LOLLAR and P90 PU , I want build some different tone guitar .

It was a joke dude. It won't make any sound at all until you get some strings on it.

I'm not a big fan of gold hardware, but that's a gorgeous body.

So why do you say it's your "last" VIP?
What don't you like?

I like it , I hope can build something like this someday :

but Warmoth said it is “ last of our old style Caved contour “ , not sure why as I ask here :

I am a fan of gold hardware, but I think in this case I would have gone chrome. Still, it's a beautiful piece of work, and the gold certainly won't hurt it.

the new gold hardware do pop out a bit too much , I may ageing it to look like age copper hardware.

like this one I done on a pickup cover :

how did you do that?  Paint?

I like that worn copper look.  Floyd Rose has that as an option to custom order, but the problem is finding matching tuners/knobs/plates, etc...

yes , pickup cover done by paint only , but may try very thin copper foil when I have time .

gold hardware will try sanding + chemical copper aging + paint

any tips on what you used would be great.

They do make a copper foil but aging it may be difficult

Aged copper effect looks fantastic!  I've been mulling over a steampunk guitar build, so this is all good stuff!

Thanks for sharing but is the Hendrix.TO really necessary?  It's so annoying.  Do you really worry about people stealing your pix and making money with them?
