My box arrived but..................(NEW COMPLETED PICTURE ADDED)

Agreed with all these previous posts, you did a great job on that. Is that the Blues Jr. in the background? I have the same one.

One other thing you've probably already noticed but red is really difficult to get a good photo of without some kind of filter. I can't get any photos of my cherryburst Strat that look anything like it does face to face. I bet that Tele is just gorgeous when you're looking right at it.

Mully, you are right about the color capture from my "snap away" camera.  I hope to get into more serious picture taking like you with your white Strat.   The Blues Jr. is my doodling amp which has never seen a real gig.  It works great with P90 pickups.

Thanks everyone for all your encouraging comments on the Carved Top Tele.

I absolutely love this build. 1. carve top 2. tele 3. P90s! 4. great woods 5. exotic neck 6. beautiful finish 7. no Floyd! What's not to like?

I don't like it's location.

Well, man, what I was meaning to convey was that these photos look really good and since red is such a bicch to photograph that I bet face to face it's just immaculate.

looks killer...did you have to take any material out for the front PU?

Yup, deepened the cavity to the level of the wire channel with a router.  Coincidentally, the volume balance between the two pups is spot on.

Thanks for all the kind words.

did you use a real router or just use a dremel? I am facing the same problem and still haven't decided how to approach this.. I have a dremel but not a router

Wow! :o  I was debating with myself if I wanted to build a carved top tele. But wow is all I can say. Now I just have to decide what type of pickups to put in it.

I'm going to go with a mahogany body with Koa top! Or maybe a darker color core wood not sure yet!

If you have a Dremel, you can always get the Dremel router attachment.  It's pretty useful.

Yes, I used a Dremel with router bits.  Slow but works great.

The neck pickup cavity has a wire channel running across the rout which is the perfect depth for wood to be taken off above it.  I used a Dremel plunge router holder and cutter bits.  The extra preparation work involves making a bridge or wooden rail running above the pickup rout since the guitar top is arched and the router base will not sit flatly on top.  I carefully routed line by line to take off the wood.  For the curved corners, I used a brad point drill bit to round off.  Work is tedious because the body has be so beautifully finished and a wrong turn will destroy it.  Do practice on a piece of raw wood to get a better hang of it.
