I just got a Musikraft set neck guitar. Cost me 800 bucks, 1500 all put together. And guess what...it don't work. The neck ain't set right so the strings sit about 3/4 in off the fret board. That's as low as it'll go. I could route out the body so the bridge sits lower, but actually the whole guitar is shit. nothing lines up. all the measurments are off. the frets are a joke. well the whole thing is a joke. only response to e-mails was a "whoops, sorry"      DONT BUY FROM MUSIKRAFT.

Warmoth is the best. everything is always spot on and top notch.

I don't buy from Jamerson as well.

I bought a Tele neck and it was too backbowed to be usable.

The told me to use heavier strings.

I am glad to hear this information  :hello2:  because I have been considering getting a neck from them.
I am looking for a Cocobolo neck and W will not do necks from this wood related to allergic reactions this wood is known to cause in certain individuals.
Anybody know where I can get a Cocobolo neck other than Musikraft  :icon_scratch:

I thought it was just because the dust is extremely tough on the respiratory system, not necessarily allergic reactions or anything like that.

I guess Soulmate or other luthier... Have you asked Warmoth gently and sweetly about a one-off?? :D

I've been wanting to hear other peoples rating for some time. I'm sorry if I forgot any...

Carvin

Musikraft
MightyMite
BHefner
Mojo Bodies
Grizzley

I haven't had a lot of experience with all of these, but the bottom line is that Warmoth has much more options in regards to wood types, models and features. also, nobody else has as big of a in stock section as Warmoth.

Mighty Mite - comparable to Korean Squire quality
All Parts - like Fender Japan

Yea, that could very well be.  I thought I head read some place [not sure how realiable of source] that a great percentage of the population had reactions to it.  But, it very well could be the respiratory thang.

All I am certain of is that Warmoth will not make a neck from Cocobolo; only flat top geeetars.

That first link has some great information on different types of wood - I wonder if any of them could be useful in guitar building, even if they are not historically used for this.

Like what about hickory necks? If it's used for axe handles, wagon wheels and ladders, it is presumably  be strong, stable and stiff, but no idea what it would sound like...

What type of Cocobolo neck are you looking for? While we do not typically have wood that is neck thickness, I have 3  1- 11/16" Strat Warmoth Pro Cocobolo neck blanks two of the blanks have Cocobolo fingerboards the 3rd blank has no fingerboard slated. Call us if your interested but it will not be cheap.

Thanks,

Sean
