Alright. This is the neck for her. Whipped up a little tru oil satin finish. Just have to finish assembly.

Ordered a standard thin. Forgot how comfy these are!  Cheers!

That's a fine looking fret dressing you've done there, well done sir!

That would be the dudes of warmoth!

Wow, those frets look dressed on the ends, had me fooled.  My goodness how things have progressed since the decade ago that I worked there!

Outstanding! Good choice on the neck. It really goes well with that body. i might have been tempted to put roasted maple on it and the light wood looks spectacular.

Thank you, Robert!  This is the nicest sounding (and soon to be playing) guitar I’ve ever owned. Really love the switching scheme and pickups.

Gah!  Missing 2 LSR shims needed to finish. Will have to wait until I get back in town. Poor lighting but here are some pics of the assembled guit. I really need a good camera.

If you find a source for LSR shims, I hope you'll share it. I haven't had any luck.

Gorgeous build!  What type of claw is that?  I couldn't find it mentioned in this thread.  Thanks!

It's a Schaller part, called a "Sure Claw". That hex head bolt you see in the center of the part attached to the body is internally geared so by turning that, both spring tension screws get turned equally at the same time. It's an easier adjustment than trying to angle a screwdriver in to the traditional wood screw attachment scheme. Also, it allows for fast adjustment if you're the type who's changing string gauges all the time and need to adjust your spring tension to keep the bridge plate level (although, I'm not sure I'd exactly call that an under-served market, especially for Floyd users).

Cool, thanks for the info!

Beware of the Sure Claw!  I've had to remove it and went back to the time-proven part.  My Sure Claw developed an issue where one side of the unit got hung up upon adjustment, causing the other side to become jammed at an angle.  Pretty disappointing.  Here are some updated pics in realistic lighting.

BTW, I've found the 2 missing LSR shims in my parts bin, so I've very pleased to say that this guitar has set up reasonably well without any fret work at all.  Could use some minor leveling, I'm sure, but she plays very well, and damnit if the Standard Thin neck isn't super fast and comfy with the SS6100s!  Also, I cannot stand the arm attachment method of this trem. There's too much wiggle regardless of how tight the collar is.  I'm retrofitting an Ibanez Edge arm socket and will call this a day soon.

Finally, I have renamed this guitar, "Mr Doot" (dōōt).  My 9 month old son has been calling me, "Da-da-doot,” so I have no choice.  Ma-ma-doot approves.

That's a handsome lookin' axe, Francis.  You gonna bring it down for the Unofficial Unofficial get together here in North Sandy Eggo County?

Thanky, thanky, sir.  When's the ol' jam going down?  Daddy duties have had my free time restricted to bathroom break internet escapes.  I foresee hemorrhoids.

That sure does have what it takes. Clean, simple, elegant. Double thumbs up to this one. :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

That’s huge coming from you, Robert. You’re quite the designer!  I keep finding details on your latest guitar. I love how the bridge pickup matches the angle of the pick guard. Really flows well!

Thanks, Frank. Much appreciated. Now I'll need to get a bigger hat.  :icon_biggrin:
