Minimalist...

First pic - cool.

Second pick - I think I threw up a little...

<update>  actually that first pick seems to be home made...

They're cute and whimsical enough I might not object. But I do question the bolt on body when there's that little body left - seems like you could get a lot smaller with a neck through. Here's the u-bass my brother and I did when my then 3-yo wanted a bass.

It might look G-707-ish but every bit of that body has function.  Hold the neck, bridge, and strap button, and electronics.

Wouldn't that just be a baseball bat... :icon_scratch:

Does anyone else think that, when Ned Steinberger released the first Steinberger basses in the 1980s, that Leo Fender sat back in his chair & punch the air yelling "Yes!"? Leo was a kinda minimalist no-fuss guy....

yo the placement of those fret markers is skorking out my brain

double dots @ the 7-th......no dot @ the 15-th.... double dot AGAIN @ the 19-th (who came up wit that?) back to single....closing it out with triple at the 24-th. I think i'm gonna need to throw back a few more Zima beverages to get over this trauma

I believe it was a lap steel guitar...

minimalist in every way except having two knobs, lol. i was exposed to the nearest star today (aka was outside) and I met a guy operating a schawarma cart on the street who wouldn't shut up about his brand new 2017 bmw m3 vehicle  and I wish HE had a volume knob.  i would've reached out to his throat (cause it'd be attached to his voice box, naturally) and turned it all the way off and been like "on earth nobody can hear you talk" as like a play on that one movie's tagline. his tone was also annoying so a tone knob would've been ideal. so after i ate my schawarma i fell asleep in my backyard and experienced a lot of star damage, but it's okay because i tan nicely.

>> a play on that one movie's tagline.

"In space, no one can hear you scream..."

You're thinking of "Alien". One of my favorite flicks. I could embarrass some of the "Star Wars" fanatics with how many times I've seen it, and if it was on tonight I'd watch it again.

I guess sometimes less is betta.. :dontknow:

The only control on my u-bass a few pages back is a switched jack.  Most people don't use either of their knobs except as a mute switch. And it was for a kid, and real estate was scarce.

Saw it in the theater when it first came out, have the DVD, and ISO and MKV files, and still watch it nearly every time it's on TV. Couldn't possibly begin to calculate how many times I've seen Alien! Great movie, and the 1979 version of Sigourney Weaver doesn't hurt either.....

I can enjoy both Alien and Galaxy Quest again now and then.
