Hey,

my first selfmade bass is ready: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=27018&id=1733067072&l=09a2079348

The body is an absolutely amazing swamp ash standard P by Warmoth. Stained in wine red and with glossy oil finish.

i've got to be honest, i'm not a fan of the sticker. but everything else is great! that body has some awesome grain on it.

Yeah, stickers of women's asses on a bass look childish. Makes it looks like a pawnshop punk-bass or something. :dontknow:

The rest of the bass is very classy though.

Thank you for the replies! I couldn't resist in putting a sticker on it (to make it a little less classy but more punk-rock'n'roll-pawn-shopish  :evil4: - and I can always decide to remove it, if I begin to grow old someday ...  :guitarplayer2:

Hey,

it's sunday and the sun is shining, so I shot some new pictures of my Mighty Moth:  http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=27018&id=1733067072&l=09a2079348

I'll use this lazy sunday afternoon to put the waterslide decals onto my head   So there will be an update later, if everything works out fine.  :laughing7:

Yeah! I'd like to thank the Warmoth team member, who matched the two body parts so nicely!  :eek:ccasion14: I could not resist to buy it, when I found it in the stock showcase. And it was pure fun to finish it.

swaped thesticker with crome covers: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=478413&l=13daec78ec&id=1733067072

That's a hot piece of ash.  See what I did there?  Really though, very nice grain on that, and the finish looks great.

If something is so annoying that I DONT LIKE IT. that says something.

at all times. I have to be the lowest point on the bell curve.

lower than me=not acceptable.

Ironically, the bass is much sexier now.  Nice build!

:icon_thumright: You are so right - but it seems like a wonder to me that nobody has to complain about the "useless" covers now  :icon_jokercolor: I like them and the bass has become my main axe in the band.

Man, that looks great. My dream build right now would consist of dark wine red body. How did you stain the bass? Di you just brush on the stain? or sponge it on?

Hi, thank you  :eek:ccasion14:

I used a sponge for the water-based stain. First I tried different colours and concentrations on the wood where now the Pickguard is applied. Some colours did not work with the swamp-ash and the mahogani-filler :tard:

The hardest parts of work have been the filling and sanding before the staining and the oil-application, which needed 6-7 layers with long drying periods to be finished.
