Metallic Tobacco Burst

Ok. Forewarned is forearmed. I have a replacement 'guard for the one that's on there anyway because I want to change the control scheme, so as Updown said, it's out with the Dremel motor and a grinding wheel.

Yeah thought it might be cut for a standard trem.
Seems the perfect line-up when it's like that linked pic. (above)
ie: pups / strings and the edge of guard along the sides.
There is room for me to cut back / dremel the other side to match up, evenly !!
As the mount screw hole is farther away.

I'll line up the p/guard holes and drill 1st as I know they are in the correct positioning.
Then dremel back some.  :icon_thumright:

Must be just me  :dontknow:  just looks uneven and wrong looking.
Or
am I just to critical  :icon_biggrin:

No, you're right. I know I was disappointed when I saw where mine ended up.

On the pickguard ordering page, Warmoth offers to cut for either a Standard or Floyd trem, perhaps they might consider adding a third choice. We're clearly not the only ones noticing this.

Stupid me .... the pickguard that I was saying didn't fit properly here is NOT a Warmoth.
It's from G/Parts, which in hindsight is from allparts.

My Warmoth Vintage Pearl pickguard cut to a standard trem bridge FIT ... evenly.
The Black one that came with the loaded pups, also fits correctly.

Sorry Warmoth, for my stupid  :toothy11:

Hmm... Well, I haven't bought a pickguard from anybody but Warmoth in quite some time, so that's not what I've got wrong.

:dontknow:  May be just a wrong cut on a late friday arvo.
Happened to me, on my 1st Tele one time.

I'd take a pic's of these I have ..... But to late, the Dremel has done it's work on the one needed here.  :icon_biggrin:

Mine will taste the wrath of the Dremel as well, but not until I get ready to rewire it. I currently have 3 toggles for pickup switching and I want to change back to the traditional 5-way blade switch. The toggles seemed like a good idea at the time, then I saw it implemented on one of Mark Knopfler's guitars so I was sold on the idea and wondered why it wasn't done more often. Apparently, he thought enough of it to do at least twice...

The Daphne Blue fiddle has that switching scheme, as well as the left-most Bright Red one

But, the reality doesn't live up to the promise. It's just too fiddly.

The second from the left is pretty interesting looking, what is it?  Kinda looks like a strat-Jag hybrid... :dontknow:

I don't know ...but that far right one, looks like something outta Prince's collection  :laughing7:
That needs a Warmoth headstock  :icon_thumright:

Dunno. Those are supposed to be Mark Knopfler's guitars. I don't see the red Tele he plays sometimes, but he's probably as guilty as any of us of moving guitars in and out of the stable.

Pretty cool, I dig the shape... :icon_biggrin:

:icon_scratch:  Well this is kind of, almost done ....
But just lining up this wilkie trem and the neck on something else I have here.
Just to get some idea's on that other one.

Anyway ... back to this one.
I have been real careful with this one ie: drilling holes into it.
As the Metallic seems to need just that little bit more extra care  :dontknow:  may-be because of the paint  :dontknow:
It already had a little chip in the neck pocket when I bought it (which I knew about) pickguard covers that anyway  :icon_thumright:
Well I added another little chip in the corner of neck pocket when 1st trying the neck in it
No drama all is hidden.

All holes are drilled and all went perfect  :toothy10:

Here's a 'rough' idea of how it'll look when completed.
