Metallic Tobacco Burst

Thanks folks  :icon_thumright:

I knew it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, But it sure is different.
Tried searching for others with similar colour  :dontknow:  couldn't find similar.

The brown is there being Tobacco burst, kind of looks golden brown thou from the outta to a mustard colour centre.
I'm even finding it hard to describe the colours it gives off

No i'm not using that funky pickguard Doug. (I was just seeing how it looked since it had the SS pup cutouts in it)
Really think Vintage pearl pickguard with aged cream pup covers, knobs, tip will look best.
Mixed with a couple of Black hardware bits.

Can't see it with a Chrome jackplate either.
Plus I have all the Black hardware. Which looks ok.

I seem to be known around here, as using Humbuckers mostly  :icon_biggrin:

So just to stuff you all up  :laughing7:
Puppies for this will be Dimarzio Arena 58 (N) 67 (M) 61 (B)
With one pot being Push / Pull so as it will have  7 way switching allowing
Neck-Bridge combination and all three pickups at once.

:party07:

:icon_scratch:  Got no idea for a name for it ....

Shimmer  :icon_biggrin:
Changes    :dontknow:
Goldielocks    :laughing7:

you will like the dimarzio area's...dead quiet...good choice...

as for a name...i dunno...i see the glitter and i think disco...disco duck?  lol, joking...maybe

now i have that damn song in my head...

Love the guitar's finish and the black pickguard.  I've been loving flat back, single ply guards for a while now, but that one isn't shabby!  Can't wait to see it assembled!  :guitarplayer2:

I'll admit that I'm not a fan of metallic finishes but that one is pretty awesome :icon_thumright:

I like your idea of the vintage pearl and cream PU covers and knobs. There is always a black pearl pickguard or I think a birdseye maple with the cream PU cover and wood knobs could be interesting.

Maybe one of these

That finish makes me think of a cocktail. or is that because I've had a half a bottle of Johnnie Walker? Either way, very nice.

Ha Ha Ha  :laughing7:  :laughing3:  :laughing11:

Wait till you see what colour it is after you finish the whole bottle  :icon_biggrin:

The black pg looks good but I think you should go with chrome hardware... or at least a chrome input jack cover.

^^^^^^^
This

That finish is AWESOME!

Well I bought a brand new loaded pickguard for this build, because it was cheaper than getting just the pup's.
Dimarzio are very costly in Oz and lots of over seas places won't send them to us down here.
So it worked out cheaper this way.

Has the push / pull on the tone for (N) and (B) combined or all 3 combined.
Anyway …
I'm using all black hardware ie: Tuners, Wilkie trem and jackplate.
Neck has those bloody cream dots on Rosewood / Rosewood.

Originally thought aged cream knobs / pup covers on a Vintage Pearl guard.

:icon_scratch:  Now I'm leaning towards the look of the Black pick guard with the aged cream bits, to go with the cream dots.

Couple of mock ups with different pickguard and bits. just sitting on top of other pickguard for ideas.

Comments please !!  :icon_biggrin:

  Forgot to take a pic of Black on Vintage pearl .... But I don't think thats any good.

I think the cream on black is the right combo on that body as well.

Who built that pickguard?

Bought off fleabay from this mob, Sigler Music Centre... http://www.ebay.com:80/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110740784452
Then found they have a site too ... http://www.siglermusiconline.com/store/pc/920D-Custom-Pickguard-c181.htm

Very well packed in black cutout foam, even get a reversible screwdriver  :laughing7:
Just what I need another screw driver to go with about 100+ that I have already.
I'm very happy with it thou :icon_thumright:

I cringed while watching the video of them soldering, NO covering over the body

I'm not normally a fan of painted finishes , but that is WAY cool
Yeah it looks heaps better than I can get in the pic's.
When you look at it from a low angle it looks Golden and like a dark Copper around the edges.
Very much like a Harlequin paint job. Every angle gives off a different colour.

all black, or w/b/w with white knobs & pup covers.
Yeah but AutoBat that's Not gunna go with those Bloody cream dots on the neck.  :icon_biggrin:
I can black out the white edge on the black guard thou.

Thanks guys  :icon_thumright:

That's a helluva price on those pickguards. You can't really make them yourself for that money. I do a better job of wiring, but hell. I could buy one of those just for the parts and re-do it properly.

Do you mean a good price  :dontknow:
I thought it was cheap compared to just getting the pup's. Well for downunder anyway.

The price on just those pup's from my local music shop (5 minutes away) is about $110 each
Plus I've known the owner for 30+ years and thats the best he could do for me.
Elsewhere around here in OZ there even more than that, around the $130 each

Thats why I went shopping via my keyboard  :icon_biggrin:

Yes, I meant "good". Those pickups typically go for around $70 around here, give or take a few bucks. Still, add in the pots, knobs, a switch, wire and the 'guard itself, and you're at or above what they're charging for the whole thing wired.

Is this a regular finish option? I've seen it come up a couple of times in the Showcase, but it almost doesn't look as though you can order it outright. That'd be too bad, cuz it's awesome!
