I bought this Strat Body to go with some stuff sitting around here. (well that's my excuse)  :laughing7:
ie: Rosewood / Rosewood neck (had for ages) and a Black Wilkie, Tuners, Jackplate etc

Body…
Strat
Chambered
Swamp Ash on Swamp Ash
Top Rout
Wilkie Trem Studs
Wgt = 3lbs  10oz

The Finish on the spec's says, Special Metallic  :dontknow:
But …. it's actually 'Metallic Tobacco Burst'
The Metallic Fleck on this is  :headbang:

I KNEW before buying, that it had a small chip rear neck pocket, that will be covered by pickguard anyway.
Stated too was …… 'Grab this one off, while you can' ….. I did just that.  :icon_biggrin:  Darn RSS feed.

I had all intention using SSS …. still am.
But stupid me  :tard:  got it as HSH, as thats what I usually do with a Top Routed Strat.
After ordering I then thought about a clear pickguard (may-be) then emailed Rob.
And I only just missed the routing being done by a couple of hours.
My fault for being a thick head.  :toothy11:

So back to my original plan using aged cream pup covers and knobs etc on a Vintage Pearl pickguard.
Just gotta see if the Black hardware will go with that, otherwise more expense for the Gold hardware.
I don't like the black pickguard with it.

This is a great colour  :toothy10:  that WON'T show in the pic's   it looks very much like a Harlequin type of paint.
As from all different angles you get some amazing colours changes.  :o
Almost from a Golden Honey to a touch of Smokey Shoreline to a Gold Top then
to a mysterious Greenish to your Tobacco, Browns and Yellows.
Just amazing in the flesh !!
Wish you could see what I see, it's just not showing those colours in the pic's  :icon_scratch:

This colour would look fantastic on a LP or Tele Carve Top, as the changes in the colours would be more profound.
I sure hope for others, that  Warmoth add this to there list of finish choices.

She's a beauty !!

Pic time !!
Sorry in advance to Doug for all the pic's  :laughing7:
Pic's taken in different lighting, to try and show colour changes.

Oh. My. God.

I like how you go on for ages about how it looks better in the flesh, the pictures don't do it justice, blah blah blah... and then the pictures scroll up and it looks ****ING INCREDIBLE.

Wow, what a finish. That is seriously amazing. They should do all their bursts in metallic, it looks absolutely sick.

And that chip really doesn't matter at all, and neither does the pickguard thing. I actually really like the black, I think it makes the finish stand out more and gives it a "luxury" feel. But if you don't like it that's cool.

LOVE IT!!!  I have always liked that look.  I know Gibson did a clown burst that was metallic paint in the past...

Just one comment...I do not think you took enough photos.... :laughing3:

Wow!!
When I first read the discription I didn't think I would be a fan but the pictures changed my mind.  Very cool color and have to agree it would look awesome on a carved top tele!! Maybe the next build for me???  Doubtful but to quote a very old song "dreaming is free"

the burst is incredibly subtle...it almost doesn't look burst at all in some pics...

when i read the title, i will admit that i had something else entirely pictured in my mind...

this almost looks like a traditional burst in some pics, and full on metal flake in others...

it's messing with my mind...lol

good buy updown...and i think the neck you picked is very complimentary...happy ngd

Oh Yeah!! Very Nice!!
I like the Vintage Pearl, but I really like the black too!  :dontknow:
Either way, that Rosewood neck seems to match perfectly! :guitarplayer2:

Yeah, reminds me of a Gibson colour for some reason.

OK ....  :icon_scratch:  What is it with people that have a D starting there forum names here.
That's Dangerous now DMRACO that don't like pic's.  :icon_jokercolor:
Who's next Ddbitrbl  :dontknow:

OK I'll remember from now on, just to post one pic ….. Ha Ha ….. like hell.  :cool01:

Just for that  :evil4:
Here are mock up pic's, with black hardware and wrong config / spare black pickguard. I'm going SSS
And one with my custom cut pickguard (template with many other drill test holes in it)
Actually Black pickguard looks OK.

Still need to get a Vintage Pearl pickguard to see how that will look thou.

Yep the neck matches well .... thats the only reason I bought this body.

Yes you counted right. That was 5 times kewlpics!  :laughing7:

Normally i don't like brown, unless it's natural wood, but that's pretty cool. But please not the funky shaped PG, it's just
iobarf.gif
. Use a creamier pearl PG and call it Rootbeer Float... :icon_thumright:
